Special Purpose Acquisition Company (SPAC)

Merchantec Capital is the Adviser to the first primary-listed SPAC on the JSE.

A SPAC is a special purpose acquisition company established for the purpose of facilitating the primary capital raising process to enable the acquisition of viable assets.

SPACs are required, within 24 months of listing, to acquire assets that will enable the company to qualify for a listing on the JSE, other than as a SPAC, on the Main Board or the AltX.

A SPAC must raise, either prior to or on listing, a minimum of R500 million through the issue of shares for a listing on the Main Board and R50 million for listing on AltX.
